Volunteer Needed: Hayfield Farm Directory Editor
The HCA needs a volunteer editor to produce the Hayfield Farm Directory. John Millikin has produced the 2013-2016 editions and will also produce the 2017 edition but he will retire after this one is printed and distributed. Ideally the new editor would work with John for a few hours in late January and early February for knowledge transfer, i.e., to learn the ropes as the 2017 edition is produced. The current process utilizes software including Microsoft Access, Excel and Word. Responsibilities include: Using data from Membership Chair Jim Quigley, add his two listings (Last Name and Street Address), include advertisements from Ad Manager Steve Gustafson, add other information (mostly boiler plate from the previous year) and add the covers (boiler plate plus ads); then print the Directory via West Potomac HS; and finally distribute 26 sets of directories to the 26 area captains (they collect our HCA membership dues and distribute the Directories.) Please contact John via email John.Millikin@gmail.com or phone 703-971-5447 for more information.
Resolution Presented to the HCA
At the October 19, 2016 HCA meeting Marcus Wadsworth, acting for Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay, read and presented to the HCA a County of Fairfax, Virginia Resolution finely mounted on a wood plaque on our 50th anniversary 1966-2016.
The Fairfax County 50-year congratulatory resolution recognizes broad community contributions by our HCA association and many, many residents over several years and commemorates our 50-year anniversary. It is rare that a citizens organization (remember we are not an HOA) would continue to function and thrive for 50 years. Furthermore as the resolution notes, there have been major contributions initiated and supported by our community. The resolution is signed by Lee District Supervisor Jeffrey McKay and by Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova.
