Committees

In Hayfield Farm, we have so many dedicated neighbors that volunteer their time to make this community a better place.  There are multiple events throughout the year, a neighborhood watch team that helps keep our neighborhood safe, a welcoming committee that helps you feel at home, and so much more.  Explore below the different ways our community is unique and the best place to be.  These are all considered HCA sponsored committees, as outlined in our HCA By Laws.  It doesn’t matter if you want to be a leader on our board or committees, organize or participate in a new or existing group, we have something that is a great fit for you. If you want to make a difference in Hayfield, make some new friends, or otherwise just participate, please contact hayfieldfarm@gmail.com.

Resident participation in community activities is a major reason why Hayfield is MORE THAN JUST A PLACE TO SLEEP. Join the HCA today; you and the community will benefit if you volunteer some of your time too!

Ad Manager

The Ad manager, Stephanie Garrison, recruits potential advertisers for our monthly newsletter.  She collects funding for the monthly ads, and works with advertiser to get current ads to put in newsletter.  Check out our current ad rates here. (Email: stephgarrison@aol.com)

Beautification
The Beautification Committee is led by Mary Millikin, who helps to plan, organize, and supervise activities for the physical beautification of the community.  She helps to negotiate and monitor contracts for beatifications services and works closely with the Garden Club on any projects or issues.  Most projects take place in our neighborhood medians and entrances. Budget Officer

The Budget Officer, Stephanie Garrison, with the budget committee, prepares the annual operating budget and provides recommendations to the Board for the next year.

Communications (Website, Email, Facebook)
There are various methods of communication for HCA announcements and events.  This effort is led by Becky Suttell and includes: webmaster for the Hayfield Farm Neighborhood website (daily updates as needed for HCA events, pictures, announcements, and newsletters); responding to neighborhood emails at hayfieldfarm@gmail.com; keeping the HCA email distribution current; and managing the Hayfield Farm Neighborhood Facebook page.  If you want to support the communication effort, especially if you are familiar with WordPress, please let Becky know.
Membership

The Membership Committee is led by Stephanie Garrison, and is a large undertaking for the community.  This committee does a membership drive each fall to help collect membership fees from each of us in the neighborhood.  Membership fees are just $40 a year for Hayfield Farm Residents. Neighborhood Watch
The Hayfield Citizens Association Neighborhood Watch is recruiting new members.  This is a volunteer program designed to deter crime and keep our neighborhood safe via patrolling the neighborhood on designated dates during the evening hours.  Established in 1978, the Hayfield Citizens Association Neighborhood Watch was one of the first neighborhood watch programs established in the U.S. and became a model for other communities to follow.
Why Join Neighborhood Watch?
– Give back to our community by keeping it safe;
– Help your neighbors directly by keeping an eye out for suspicious activity or people.

Newsletter Editor

The newsletter editor organizes a staff to prepare, publish and distribute the Newsletter to Hayfield Farm residents every month except July and August.  The editor is Katie Griffin  In order to contribute and article or ad to the newsletter, please submit by the first Friday after the Wednesday board meeting (the first Wednesday of the month).  All Newsletters are hand delivered and emailed through the HCA email distribution.  To be added, send an email to hayfieldfarm@gmail.com.

Social Commitee

The Social Committee focuses on planning and implementing events for the community.  Events are generally family friendly, and include: Halloween Parade, Cocoa in the Park, Easter Egg Hunt, and others.  A small group of neighbors help to coordinate and lead these events.  If you are interested in helping, contact Kate Perschbaher.

Stormwater Committee

The Stormwater Committee is led by John Millikin, who helps to keep the community informed about stormwater issues in our neighborhood.  He serves as liaison with the Lee District Supervisor’s office and Fairfax County Maintenance and Stormwater Management Division.

Telephone Directory
 

The Telephone Director editor organizes and publishes an annual telephone director for the Hayfield Farm neighborhood.  This is distributed to all paid members of the HCA.  Joe Belt is the current editor.

Welcoming Committee

The Welcoming Committee helps to prepare and maintain a welcome packet, and distribute them to new neighbors in Hayfield Farm.  If you know that a new neighbor moved in, please contact the welcoming chair, Jeanne Beard.
